Uwe Omer's homage to the sublime grace and beauty of black ladies is a celebration of African women and their enviroment. The pictures are simple only in that what they portray needs no ehancing. The sensuous ladies he photographs are the epitomy of womanhood; gracefull, styelish, rugged and natural. The landscpe of Africa perfectly mirrors these qualities resulting in a wonderfull study. Also included are the poems of Calixthe Beyala, a leading francophone African poet, her words complimenting the photographs perfectly. This book will be enjoyed by men and women of all races who revel is the supreme beauty of the African woman, Ommer has captured their spirit perfectly. I cannot reccomend it highly enough.

The photos in this book are really beautiful , the photographer has really captured all the essence and sensuality of the truly stunning models.
The book is more artistic than erotic , but a flick through this is enough to send your mind wandering into the fantastic African landscape with beautiful African ladies

Colour is often overlooked when it comes to photographing women; seemingly one of the last taboos is picturing and framing black women. These are not the hard S&M worlds of the European studio, bleached into extremes but the opposite of the polarity, subtle tones of brown, green orange and creams.

Women are shot just displaying their beauty within the shadows of the environment they inhabit. As a result the effect is absolutely stunning as he brings out another geist to the world with his eye for composition and detail.

The women beam out a sense of sensuality and allure whilst the worlds they inhabit appear less than the Africa presented in numerous documentaries but hidden lands steeped in a sense of unalienated mystique.

Worth the while to journey into the magical worlds that have been evoked within these stunning impressions of Africa. These show another perspective to the ones which are usually beamed.

This is a wonderful hommage to the charm and beauty of black women. And its tribute is paid in the perfect setting - the stunning landscape of Africa. Ommer's rich color photography creates a kaleidoscopic array matching perfectly with his subjects' glistening black skin. Glamour never looked so good!

This book has already achieved a cult following so it is highly recommended that collectors get this while they can. It's a photographic treasure and touching testimony to the beauty of Africa's Black Ladies.

Well shot pictures of absolutely stunning African women with great shots of various scenery, mixed with a few poems. Tasteful erotic shots of faces, breasts, bodies that celebrate the beauty of dark skinned women. Does not venture into anything vulgar.

I purchased Uwe Ommer's Do it Yourself, another TASCHEN publication, before this. The portraits there were quite interesting and provocative albeit in a very tasteful and arty way. I expected much the same with Black Ladies even with its eponymous exclusivity of subjects. Disappointingly, Black Ladies was tame in comparison and nothing special

Got what I ordered so happy with that...it would certainly help, however, if cost is translated to US dollars so there are no surprises.
