Heavily reliant on animal-fat oils

Although I'm sure the basic instructions will be useful, I'm acutely disappointed that so many of the recipes include either lard (pig fat) or tallow (mutton or beef fat), without indicating possible vegetarian substitutes. There's also a huge variety of oils specified, with different combinations in each recipe, and again no substitutes suggested. Of course, that variety is useful in order to indicate the different properties of different kinds of oil within soap, but it's unrealistic to expect that beginner soap-makers will go out and buy 8 or 9 different oils in order to make 2 or 3 different soaps. Effectively, if you want to make a vegetarian soap without buying up a shop's worth of oils, you'll only be able to use a very few of these recipes. For that, you might as well just go to the various excellent online resources.
