This book is an honest and insightful glimpse into the career of a true professional footballer. In a time before the mega bucks of the modern day player. This guy shows what it takes to succeed if you really, really want something. From humble beginnings he took the bull by the horns and went for it. He knew what he wanted and wasn't afraid to ask for the chance to prove himself. He was the catalyst in the rise and rise of the so called 3rd Merseyside club. Captaining the team to unparalleled success with more trips to Wembly than most top Premier League players of today can only dream of. It is also a very good illustration of a cruel and callous profession and the people within who will turn their back on at the drop of a hat. After his playing career 'Nicco' made sure he gained all the necessary FIFA accreditations that were available to prove himself the top goalkeeping coach he so obviously is. Tutored under the great Joe Corringan, he listened, learned and passed his knowledge onto the next generation and helped produce future International and the current Liverpool goalkeeping coach whilst at Tranmere. Imagine what he could achieve at a club with more rescources? I believe this guy and guys like him , if only given the chance could and would go on to be the future homegrown managers in our top flight domestic league. This book is a must for any football fan. Simples!

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's a classic story of one man chasing a dream and catching it and making it work for him. I have to admit to knowing Eric, so it was a real pleasure to me to learn so much more about him than he ever imparts - modesty is a forte of his. Read this book and enjoy it, you'll get the measure of the man as he comes off the page and grips you! What's also interesting though is what's he going to do next. I look forward to volume 2.
