There are no other books like this one available for students doing master's degrees so it is a great resource that can help you to develop your skills in this area and understand the requirements of postgraduate study. The book covers all of the key skills that you will need as a student doing postgraduate study, it gives you lots of food for thought as it encourages you to critically reflect and evaluate your own strengths and weaknesses across all of the chapters when you engage with completing the activities. It is not too text-heavy, nice and easy to both read and navigate and gives suggestions for further reading. You can read it all at once or just use the chapters that are really helpful such as what is masterly (chapter 1), what is critical thinking (chapter 2) and writing at master's level (chapter 5). The final chapter(7) is about applying postgraduate skills in the workplace and is worth a read when developing your CV or prior to an interview as it will help you to think about how you can sell yourself and your postgraduate skills. The book is also great for lecturers as the activities and workshops can easily be used in seminars and workshops. Highly recommended.
Studying at MA level for the 1st time. This is not only easy to read it is easy to understand. I've bought 3 books & this is by far the favourite. It has really explained wjat is required at this level. A great "how to" book.
This is a really useful book, which I find fairly easy to understand. I could do with revisiting it. I would recommend this to someone just before starting on a Master's course, as once you have started you may not have time to read it.
