The book is full of great photography and clear step by step instructions for 14 fascinator projects, beginning with easy, intermediate, then leading on to the more advanced.

The projects are worked with Sinamay, crin, veiling, flowers, petals and feathers.

Techniques explained include feather dying, sculpting, moulding bias strip, making bows, flowers and petals, rolled edges, and wiring.

I purchased this book as a gift for my mum, who at 80 years old, recently confided to me it had been her lifelong dream to become a milliner, but after winning a scholarship to Art College at 14, her parents needed her to go out to work and earn money. Mum was over the moon with this book and has made a couple of lovely fascinators for her friends as gifts.

I love this book so much I ordered a second copy for myself.

This is a fantastic introduction to making fascinators. There are fourteen projects, divided into Easy, Intermediate and Advanced. Each project has both written instructions and plenty of photographs, and is also accompanied by additional photos showing different versions you can copy or adapt. The book includes instructions on how to make your own Sinamay bases, Sinamay flowers, bias strips, dyeing and burning feathers. There is one project working with crin, but the rest are all with Sinamay and only one uses a hat block. There is a page of templates which can be photocopied and enlarged and there are detailed pages of the tools and equipment you'll need (nothing major or particularly expensive and the author suggests household items which can be used instead, including for the hat block project). It also explains what the tools are and how to use them. I can't recommend this book enough for people with little or no experience. It covers all the basics and more in a very well written way.

Love the book! I am a total beginner in making fascinators. Two of my friends turned 50-ty and I wanted to surprise them with something unique for that special occasion. The plan worked and the looks on my friends' faces was priceless! Thank you!!

It looked like an informative book. Not sure if the person I gave it to has actually used it but they seemed happy with the present :)

Perfect condition, a bit fiddly for a young teenager, but an adult will have no difficulty following the instructions
