Has come in very useful for visiting different parts of the Portuguese territories, both mainland and the various islands. Clear illustrations and though there may be a newer edition out now, the basics are still very useful
When it arrived the Guide was nice and clean stamped with the name of a New York libraray to give it some background. Should be useful on our Cruises. Delivery was a bit slow from the US by sea mail but much better than paying the retail price.
Not nearly as good as Michelin Guides used to be. Once they were exciting; now this one at least is rather dull and factually inaccurate in several places. For example, Mateus Rose wine has never been made at Mateus - it just uses the rather attractive palace as a trademark - and not all Vino Verde is made in Ponte de Lima. I rather get the impression that the authors have not been to Porttugal recently. There used to be only one choice for the discerning traveller - Michelin Guides - now Rough Guides and many others are a far bellet choice. And please do not refer to children as "kids".
