A concise and clever book. For those that think they know about Climate Change it's a short and timely reminder of the science behind it (complete with compelling information to counter climate deniers). For people that aren't up with the science, or are sceptical of the whole 'Global Warming' lark, it's an accessible and convincing introduction to the subject.
But don't be fooled into thinking this is just a science book. There is serious science in there, but I particularly enjoyed the surreal forays into poetry and parody. These include the "Nonsense Guide to Climate Change" section, in which the 'Innocuous Sounding Institute for Common Sense Climate Solutions' attempts to reassure readers that "everything is going to be just fine", and the poem "Lifestyle Choices", including the unforgettable lines:
"I saw Gandhi getting handy with a pair of bathroom pliers, To defend his independence from the British Occupiers, Not by mobilising peasants into peaceful mass resistance, But by fixing leaky taps and putting bricks inside inside their cisterns."
This book covers a broad range of topics which fall under the climate change umbrella, all the topics are covered in sufficent detail to give the reader knowledge of each area. It shows how and why climate change is happening and also covers ways in which we as individuals can help combat it. It is a must read if you are interested in climate change and the environment.
Great introduction to climate change. Gives and general overview of most areas. Has some very intresting and useful websites, article and book refrences. Alot of Information from before 2010 so a little outdated, nothing a little research for latest figures couldn't fix!!
