I bought the 2007/08 edition of this book to help with Bachelor's studies a few years ago and found it to be a great help in understanding the basics of tax. Having returned to the UK a few months ago after a few years on the continent, I decided to buy this edition to assist my reacquiantance with UK tax law and have found it once again to be a worthy investment.
This book does not just cover UK tax law, it also introduces tax policy concepts as well as international tax principles.
While the authors remind the reader several times in the book that its purpose is to provide an awareness or an introduction of tax concepts and is not meant as a comprehensive guide on technical aspects, it still provides the reader with a solid understanding of tax and the confidence to tackle more complex issues and study the subject further.
With additional resources available online, any buyer of Taxation: Policy & Practice gets much more than an introductory book to taxation.
