I say what a marvellous book this was, so many cads in this book and a fair few hoi polloi have made it in. Thankfully Mr Temple and the chaps know how to deal with them

Enjoyed this book, was it a blast from the past? or meant as a good laugh. Certainly enlightened my dress sense.

Rather disappointing. This joke is tolerable as part of a broader magazine but becomes repetitive and unoriginal when a whole book is pretty much dedicated to it, with the author desperate to find fault with perfectly acceptable attire. Having read every Chap book, this is the only one I haven't found hilarious and the key variable is Vic Darkwood. Temple and Darkwood have co-written all the other Chap books and Darkwood's solo 'A Gentleman's Guide to Motoring' is magnificent and inspired. It's clear that Mr Darkwood is the one with the real comic talent: the Stewart Lee to Mr Temple's Richard Herring. 'Am I Chap?' is a bit like Blackadder I, before Ben Elton came along and made it funny.

One can dally a little too long considering the trifling minutae of a chap's wherewithal in this engagingly slim volume. Awfully good fun in a restrained way, although the book is rather on the not big side, as is the font size. Still, it commends itself to the odd dip in and out.

This is the most awfull dated rubbish. Plus a very poor writing style. Like the magazine of the same name it's snobbish and looks down on just about everyone.Lets hope this book and the mag that I am pleased to hear are having trouble with low sales are soon dustbin bound along with Temple.
