It is what is says it is, which is an informative guide to finding and understanding wills and probate records, to the point, nothing fancy. It was very helpful with a bit of interesting background information as well. Unfortunately I think any book on any subject relating to accessing actual databases of genealogical data is going to be out of date as fast as it is printed as so much more is being made available online every month. Nevertheless, knowing what is out there and where to get at it is great, but it's still helpful to know the how, when, why and by whom of will making and probate granting.
This book is a must for people who are doing their family history. Wills are such an important source of information as they can give you names of relatives you have not yet uncovered as well as information about the status of the family. They are sometimes difficult to find and sometimes difficult to understand, so the kind of help this book offers is great. I recommend everyone to buy it.
Hunting down wills was a neglected area of my family history research and they are often the most revealing sources you can find. This book helped strip away the difficulties of knowing just where to look by listing some very useful contacts.
