Dredd's golden age continues. In the aftermath of the Apocalypse War, Mega-City One is pulling itself together under the surprisingly (and relatively) enlightened rule of Judge McGruder. One story stands out, City of the Damned, the Judge Child Saga is brought to a close as Dredd and Anderson travel to the future to find that Judge Fey's prediction of disaster in the year 2020 has come horribly true and the most surprising way. Ably drawn by Steve Dillion, amongst others, it is the closest volume 8 has to a mega-epic and thoroughly enjoyable. The other stand out, 'Dredd Angel,' brings back a confused Mean Machine Angel who has been tricked into believing Dredd is his late father.
Next up, volume nine bringing in a new hardline Chief Judge, the seeds of the Democracy Movement and the countdown to Necropolis begins.
