Very interesting book. I bought this for my father as a Christmas present and couldn't help but look through it before wrapping it up.
Excellent photographs and graphic descriptions.

Provides a rare insight into the challenges faced by the engineers, and the exploitation of an itinerant workforce living in what can only be described as squalid conditions in the most bleak and inhospitable places in the British Isles. A rare gem of a book.

Having just walked the Dales Way and caught a wonderful view of this amazing structure, this book was a must. It made a wonderful gift for my husband's birthday. Not just for steam enthusiast's, but the history of the viaduct and the way people survived (or not)! is most interesting.

I recommend this book to anyone with a serious interest in this fascinating aspect of British Industrial History. Although some of the material has been covered before in other publications, nothing quite matches the excellent presentation and richly illustrated narrative of this history of the Ribblehead Viaduct. In a world where the visual is valued above all, I cannot commend too highly its combination of written and photographic history.

If you ever wanted to know what real, true hard-working people lived through then this book is for you - Health & Safety - HA! and better for it.
