The Lighthouses of Trinity House
on 8 April 2016
I am well pleased with this book . Being a Civil Engineer , I am obviously interested in any structures and how they were built and integrated with the substrate they are constructed upon . I have always been fascinated with lighthouses . Indeed John Smeaton's lighthouse sits at the top of the Coat of Arms for the Institution of Civil Engineers , London .
Back to the book ! It is well illustrated and the engineering drawings are excellent , unlike the CAD drawings of today . I like the inclusion of the domestic affairs and ways of life the operators had to endure . It brings the lighthouses alive .
The book is worthy of a place on anybody's bookshelf , and I highly recommend it to those who have such an interest .
