Basic Knitting Technique rather than 'finishing'
on 24 October 2012
I was very disappointed in this book. it was originally published in the USA I think and by the look of the colours, it was in the 1970s. I am a practised knitter, I was looking for techniques on blocking, pressing and sewing up the garments I make. There is a section on this but it amounts to a couple of pages, the photos are so indistinct that I couldn't really see how the stitches were worked.. There are sections for casting on and basic stocking stitch, purl and rib - why are these in a book called 'Finishing Techniques'!.There are some 'projects' at the back to practice the techniques for intarsia, Fairisle and others - sooo old fashioned and boring!! I think I'll look at Debbie Stoller's books instead! I purchased her learn to crochet book and it's excellent.
