I really liked this novel - it was haunting, literate and intelligent and a far cry from the usual run of trashy vampire books which are published these days. It has great atmosphere and is very well constructed in terms of plot and character, written in a style reminiscent of J. Sheridan leFanu's Carmilla, as noted by Kim Newman in the introduction. It was rather like being able to read Frankenstein or Dracula all over again. A stylish and thoroughly absorbing read. I can recommend it.
