This type of book has been a long time coming and certainly worth the wait,,It is about childen in the care system from approx' 1900 untill roughly late 1900s..What makes this book unique are all the very personal stories that are included,,some children had positive experiences,,some sadly did not,,this book endeavours to cover all aspects of''life in the homes''the main focus in this book being the Erdington cottage homes,,Birmingham,UK,,but covers other areas concerning the care system..I would like to end this review with a quote from one of ''Children of the Homes'' = ''A woman met us and lead me inside,,i didnt see,,hear from or about my father ever again'' ......

This book brought many happy memories back to me as I lived there in the late 1940s with my Mom and Dad who were foster parents at The Lodge.

An interesting revelation in a search for family history. Would have liked more detail.
