What can one say about Elizabeth David that has not already been said?. She virtually singlehandedly managed to haul post war Britain out of the wartime food shortages scrimping and closed thinking about food, and Introduced us to the sunshine of Mediterranean food and the simple cooking of it. A great and truly inspirational read, preferably by a roaring log fire on a dark dismal day, whilst wondering what on earth to cook for lunch or dinner!
