To advocate disciplining children in this way is highly inappropriate and potentially dangerous. Smacking a 4 month old.. really..

Such chastisement is illegal in this country.

This drivel contains instructions on how to 'break' a child by beating them until they no longer resist your blows. This filthy rag is an instruction manual on child abuse in the name of a made up religion. Amazon, you should be ashamed of yourself selling this junk. As for the authors, why aren't these people being charged and imprisoned? If you buy this book you are supporting the abuse of children, if you carry out any of the cruel tortures within in, you are a child abuser.

I have read the book and yes it is the worse book imaginable about parenting. The authors, Michael and Debi Pearl, keep constantly quoting extracts from the bible to justify their backwater philosophy in conditioning children, some only a few months, by using physical punishment. The worse part of all is that they run their own Ministry so are perpetuating their actions and beliefs to a much wider audience. As most other reviewers have pointed out this book should not be made available and should be withdrawn from Amazons catalogue. Goodness knows what the Pearls own children are like.

I am incredulous that this book could possibly still be for sale by Amazon when it tells you to beat your children in to submission. Which is child abuse. Children have died as a result of following the insanity and cruelty written in this book. What next Amazon, a book about how to be like Saville perhaps? BAN IT NOW. [...]

It is an absolute disgrace that this book even exists.
Sure, you can "train" your child to obey, using fear of physical punishment, but it does nothing to educate them or help them grow into an independent adult.
You can train a dog because a dog never needs to think for themselves or achieve independence, a child does.
And if you use this approach, you need to be very worried about the time when your child grows bigger than you, and your physical threat will no longer work. You might find that plastic tubing being used against you.

This book is disgusting, it advocates, hitting children - even babies. The latest scientific research has categorically proven that this sort of 'discipline' (I hesitate to call it that) WILL and DOES harm children psychologically. If you follow this book your child WILL grow up to have psychological problems. I am disgusted that Amazon sell it, it should be withdrawn from sale immediately.

I have not purchased this book, but was informed of it advising 'disciplining' (or abusing) your child using weapons.

This has been illegal in Scotland for years, thankfully.
I was however shocked to hear that this form of abuse continues to be perfectly legal elsewhere in the UK.

If you feel that you may follow the advice in this book -please don't. Contact social services or the NSPCC and ask for support for yourself rather than vicimising your child.

Amazon you should be ashamed of yourselves. Openly allowing a product which encourages child abuse to be purchased under your umbrella. Remove this product and any associated items instantly

Having this morning read a newspaper article stating that two children adopted from Africa were mistreated (one murdered) and this book was used by the parents as an excuse for their crime, I felt I ought to read some of its content. It was no surprise to find that this book has its origins in the primitive religious beliefs that persist despite centuries of possible human progress. I find it distressing that any semi rational human could find this book in any way helpful or able to give insight into human child behaviour.

I'm shocked and disgusted at you, Amazon. This book should NOT be on sale. It is responsible for the deaths of several children via its barbaric advocacy of physical and psychological systematic torture of children. As far as I'm concerned, this book should be illegal. Please consider removing it from your store.
