The book has plenty of very good advice, but has quite a bit of non essential information for UK readers. A whole chapter for example, trying to convince readers to wear a helmet! The illustrations are very good, but they are of course back to front for UK roads. There is a chapter on the physics of traction and balance, which though very informative to someone used to vector diagrams, is relied upon a little too much in this and later chapters, when explaining cornering techniques. Overall though, I learned quite a lot from this book and can recommend it. There is a very good chapter describing counter steering, which is well written and illustrated.

For new riders.... Take the MSF new rider course. No book will substitute for experience on a bike. Buy and read the book to gain greater depth of understanding in the theory and practice of competent bike riding.

A general introduction to motorcycles and motorcycling with sage advice about how to avoid accidents and enjoy a long life as a motorcyclist. Take the course, or at the very least, buy and read this book!

It is old library book, but arrived in good used condition. Expect a month for shipping. Cheap package, so overall good price/quality. Four stars because of long shipping time. For book alone I would give full 5 stars, because it cost 1 euro only, but was in good condition.

This is a great book. If you haven't taken the MSF's rider course, this book will give you the basis of the course fundamentals. It enhances safety, things to look for in regards to basic maintenance, group riding, how to properly ride with a passenger, and a great deal of other things.
