This book is a must-buy for anyone with an interest in the Orkney Islands' built heritage. After a brief introduction, it consists mostly of a parish-by-parish and island-by-island gazetteer, cataloguing the surviving historic buildings and illustrated with colour and B&W photos, line drawings, a map and plans.

A great companion to "Orkney: A Historical Guide" by Caroline Wickham Jones.

Really good coverage of Orkney architecture, and lots of interesting history thrown in. I discovered one minor error (the first name of a builder), so worth checking against other sources if such details are important to you.
