As i am new to family history i was looking for a book to help me in my research. In Using Census Returns i found it,it is clearly written, and full of advice on how to find your relatives in the census returns.Including where to find the Census Returns in the Public Record Offices. How to read the information contained on them, and how it is of use to you.It has clear pictures and diagrams of census pages and tells you some of the pitfalls. Most importantly it gives the addresses of all the main Public Record Offices together with their telephone numbers and opening times. All in all a very usefull book both for the beginer and experienced family historian. And it fits in your pocket!.

A truly pocket guide to take as you research through council basements, the PRO at Kew etc. Other books in this series, produced by the UK's Public Record Office include: Getting Started in Family History; Using Birth, Marriage & Death Records; Using Wills; Using Army Records; Using Navy Records. I think I remember seeing another about using Non-Conformist Church Records, but can't remember the exact title.
