This is the first heavy-weight academic textbook I've bought in paperback version since being an e-reader convert. I'm working on a theory that reading off paper might have a bigger impact on content retention than e-reading, enjoyable and convenient e-reading might be. I'm posting this review as I was pleasantly surprised by the format of this third edition being the size of a conventional paperback novel which is great for travelling with. The text is on the reading list for a number of taught Postgraduate programmes in Educational Studies. A great text for understanding the social and political structures and how it impacts on teachers in the classroom.
This study helps teachers and school practitioners understand and contextualize changes and influences that marked our educational system. Well written, the book critically considers important stages the shape the education in Britain. Excellent delivery! Highly recommended!
