I have been developing VB based applications for 5 years and have used many methods of data access (DAO, RDO etc.). This book covers the latest method "ADO" to the full, providing an easy introduction for the beginner and delving into the complexities further into the book for that almost perfect learning curve. Certainly the best book on the subject I have read.
Don't expect a long winding story of how ADO came about or it's probable uses, this book get's straight to the point from chapter one. It's ideal if you are a VB or Access developer and want to know why you should use ADO. This book also tells you what ADO can't do. The examples are plentiful and you will have a thorough understanding once you've read this book.
Its a very easy to follow book with ADO source for most visual studio products. I used it for enterprise VB6 development and found everything I needed to know. It has a very good reference in the back for ADO constant names and values, came in really handly when coding an ADO error handling class.
A very conise reference book on ADO. Every development team using Microsoft Development tools should own a copy of this book. It allows people to find information quickly without having to spend hours trawling thru the online help.
