Damien Egan created a good companion for the hobby-herpetologist, which makes his way through Arabia.

The species are described with
- common name
- scientific name
- description
- details
- diagnostic features
- possible confusions (!!!)
- distribution
- natural history

You'll find pictures of every species, which will - together with the decription, details and diagnostic feature - make it quite easy to identify snakes.

Not every fact is up to date, like the distribution grafics. But as this is also due to a leck of publications on this points, it can only be seen as a small deficit.

Over all, it's a quiet good fellow for the snakes and hopefully, the lizards will be added soon.

Excellently illustrated, well written, and very useful field guide to the snakes of the Arabian peninsula including distribution maps; colour images; and line-drawings all to illustrate the species found and where.
