Great book, I'm a first year studying architecture and am finding this book really handy. It makes designing sustainable buildings simpler. The author was my tutor for technology and he was a brilliant lecturer. He uses his drawings to explain things in this book like he did in the lectures. He will be one of my tutors again next year, and after buying/ using this book I am looking forward to studying with him even more!

I have just seen an early copy of this vital book about efficency and sensible sustainability in Architectural Practice and have been impressed by Huw Heywards clear, concise and no- nonsense approach to designing and building in a low impact and resilient manner. He cuts through many of the more complicated aspects of this much needed construction discipline. Huw creates a impelling case for designing out energy wastage that all professionals and students of architecture should be aware of when refurbishing existing buildings or planning new constructions.
A future required text in architecture schools!

This book is very much like one of those calendars with a little bit of text containing a thought for each day of the year. It's a nice, very short book that covers many important facts about building energy. It would make a perfect present for someone who likes the idea of building a low-energy home but doesn't feel up to tackling the passive house literature. There's lots of good advice in the book, but it's mostly in the form of reminders of things that we should pay more attention to, but often don't.

No matter what level you are... this book gives you an excellent range of information for sustainable building. Great book to have for when you are designing projects with details of vast aspects for creating energy efficient architecture! Also an excellent layout design... you won't want to put it down until you've finished it!
