5.0 out of 5 stars

on 26 September 2016
Written by Brenda's husband who dabbles in chess! Not a verified purchase since this book was bought in a charity shop.
I learned to play chess at school when I was thirteen. 50 years later with far more time on my hands I am once again trying to make some progress in this beautiful game. I could not comment on how I would have found this book when aged 13, if it had been around but for present revision it is deeply impressive. Just about everything up to about a low intermediate level which is supremely well covered in a crystal clear and completely unambiguous manner. I love it so it gets 5 stars with no quibble. I must look and see what else Kasparov has written that is in English. Buy this one with complete confidence especially if you know the rudiments or think you do of the game and want rapid progress! Hopefully, the cheap chess computer I also bought in a charity shop will soon stop thrashing me at not much above the lowest level!

This book is amazing!!
It starts with counting the squares and ends with analysis of Garry Kasparov's 10 best games.
If you can get a copy, treasure it.
All the Best, Harkon.
