I'm enjoying dipping into this book. It is very in depth and i wouldn't read it cover to cover as it's quite heavy going. but when we want to research something, crop related it is really useful. Good sections on harvesting, different crops to grow. Recommended if you're growing cereals and different crops for the first time. Good on pests and diseases too which you don't find everywhere.
This book has been nothing but useful! It takes pride of place on my bookshelf in the farm office! It is one of my few "go-to" books. This book covers so much useful information in very good detail. The content is not too overwhelming that the complete novice wouldn't understand and it's not too basic either. Of course there is some information within this book that only people with an Agricultural education would understand. However, the authors have done very well in writing it in a format that can be understood and taken in.
This is the Third Edition I have ever owned. 6th, 7th and 8th edition of this book live side-by-side on my book shelf. Constantly being referred to.
The quality of the book is also exceptional (if that is what you look for in a book). All of the pages are good quality paper and the spine holds well.
I have no trouble in recommending this book to anyone with a keen interest in farming/agriculture, students in agriculture or farmers themselves. Even people wishing to learn more about the way their food is made and the often complex processes in producing this food, that are required.
