This guide is very useful for scoping out your ideas before you go - what is do-able and how long it might take you. When you are there, the information available on the ground in this area is excellent so if you speak French or Italian you will feel less need to refer to the book. We used it to plan a 1 week trek from St Dalman to St Martin Vesubie and we could not have done it without it. It's also given us more ideas for other long-distance walks in this wonderful part of the Alps.
A great resource.

Very helpful. Gives routes and estimated times, accommodation info, etc. it would benefit from a few basic web addresses, eg for the busses but google filled that in well. A few more routes would have been good, but if you have experience and the 1:25000 maps you can improvise. Cicerone guides are essentially brilliant.

This book makes you want to get straight out there: good track guidance, but lots of other excellent detail about flora, fauna and history of the places visited. I'll be there in September!
