This is not a book about boiler making - it is a step by step diary of actually building a boiler from scratch. There are nearly 300 steps and each step has a photograph and some text. It is an essential resource for anyone wanting to undertake this task. I dropped one star on the rating because many of the photos are a quite hard to make out being old and black-white. Must have book for beginners.
Good overview into model boilermaking , clearly showing all the stages and methods with supporting photographs. A good read before you attack a piece, of what is now an increadably expensive sheet of copper! It must be said that some of the methods involve the use of oxy/acetelene, so for a lot of us won't be applicable, but alternatives are given.
For an instructional book the black and white photo reproductions are next to useless, the colour prints are very good. I have seen a copy of the work when first published and it looks as if the pages have been poorly photo copied. The text is very informative, however, it is hard work following the text without clear illustrations.
