Good mapping but how long will it last?
on 8 October 2012
I see that reviews from 2009/10 for the last version are still listed again this new edition. My comments are for the 2013 edition released in October 2012.
I have had the last 2 versions of this atlas and like the 1.5 miles per inch mapping. Great for more detailed trip planning than a basic 3 or 4 miles per inch atlas.
The mapping is slightly different to previous versions. Although still Ordnance Survey, the colouring and information supplied is different. For example in our village a large lake is not shown on the new one, but some older roads not previous shown are now included.
The thing for me that marks it down is the binding. Previously I had fixed spine editions. This one is spiral bound. Given the size and weight of the book, I don't think that it will be long before pages start unzipping themselves from the spiral. It all feels very weak and flimsy. So for it to last the 6 years that I had the previous one for, it's going to have to be handled carefully.
