HALL OF FAMETOP 500 REVIEWERVINE VOICEon 20 March 2017
Agatha Raisin's friend Mrs Bloxby suggests she goes to see the hairdresser, Mr John, at Evesham as she has noticed a few grey hairs. Mr John turns out to be a very handsome and charming man.

Agatha is still smarting from her rejection by neighbour James Lacey so she responds to his flirting and when he invites her out for a meal she accepts with alacrity. But Mr John isn't all he seems to be and when he is poisoned there are rather a lot of suspects including Agatha herself.

I enjoyed this entertaining mystery with its complex plot and its amusing dialogue and characters. Good to see Sir Charles Fraith joining in with the detection and proving every bit as inventive as Agatha herself.

If you enjoy light mysteries with a likeable amateur detective who is very far from being perfect then try this book and this series. The books can be read in any order but it is better to read them in the order in which the books were published as the relationships between the series characters is quite complicated at times.

Am working my way through the series in order and this one does not disappoint. Agatha is her usual feisty, awkward, lovelorn self who blunders her way into finding the culprit. What I like is that the characters are real and have depth. You may not like them all but they are real people acting in real ways. The story line also has depth and keeps you guessing as to who did it until the end. I am so glad to have found this series and this author and to know I have more books yet to read.

Amazing the amount of gossip in the hairdressers and what hairdresser Mr John gets up to. A great light read with a few twists and turns in it and a great ending. A lot of laugh out loud moments, typically Agatha Raisin, finding murder and blundering everywhere to find the answers. Very enjoyable read for addicts of Agatha Raisin.

Good basic plot and lots of 'dead ends' sorry about pun!
A bit repetitive in description of Agatha but thoroughly enjoyable nevertheless.
