Not quite what I expected. Short, compact, but well written, accounts of the cases under review. Don't expect any input from the author on possible solutions to these mysteries. There are none, and no new evidence.
This book presents 5 murder cases that occurred between 1936 and 1966. Jim Morris presents the facts of each case with utmost clarity and has clearly researched them all in great detail. This was a time when people were executed for crimes, and if the wrong person was caught there was no going back... Unsolved Murders of the North describes four unsolved murders (which from the evidence presented should have been solved) and a case where someone was convicted but the evidence was anything but solid, all in the North of the UK. It's more than a look over old cases, Jim Morris explores the very motives that bring one person to murder another, and how the British Police Force at the time handled the cases, without the technology they have today. Plenty of food for thought!
