This is a beautifully illustrated book, albeit a little thin on information and pages. However, if you are after something for a child or young teenager this is probably it! Or if, like me, you want a picture book that stimulates your imagination then this is it.

If you are looking for an in depth mythology book look elsewhere!

The illustrations in this book are fantastic. There's not all too much depth of text, but that is not what this book is aiming for. It gives a great overview over mythical creatures, beautifully done and with the most important information available - it's a thin book, not too many pages, hence it's exactly as I had expected it to be; if you look at the description, it's not fooling you into believing it's something that it is not. There's a bit too much text for children just starting to read but it makes a beautiful book to look at and read to them anyway, if their interest is in the mystical beasts. Only shame is that some of the pictures are printed across the middle section (across the fold, that is), but I guess there's nothing that could have been done except making them smaller :).
I am quite happy with my purchase !

This is quite a small book, and quite short, but really well put together. The illustrations are great, a little caricatured but capture the dramatic essence of fabulous beasts, and full colour throughout. Consider it an introduction to mythical monsters, and should whet the appetite for anyone wanting to learn more about the creatures and the myths themselves. Entries consist of a large dominant image across a double page spread, with short punchy paragraphs explaining the myths around the creature, supported by smaller images and captions.

Wanted something more substantial than this thin booklet. The search goes on for a better more comprehensive graphical grimoire of mythical creatures and monsters.
