I must admit it took me a little while to get hooked on this book as the first few chapters are very grim to say the least. I starts off directly with an interagation and an execution performed simply for the sake of performing these ... something that leaves a sick taste in the best of cases. But when the book progresses along the other characters it becomes more intruiging and less easy to put down. As you progress the whole situation of the war becomes more and more a farce and it shows so well the absurdity of all wars but civil war the most. It has an unusual ending from a Western readers point of view but I wont spoil it here for future readers.
