What an adventure! What an amazing ride "Washington Black" was.
This book is a complete package with gripping, mesmerising narration, moving story, brilliant fast-pasted style, a potpourri of weird and wonderful characters (villains and ladies in abundance) and a tinge of magic.
The book will take you on a whirlwind adventure, from sugar cane plantation in Barbados to the world of never-ending winter. I will say no more to not spoil all the fun.
You know what this reminded me of? Of old-school adventure novels of Mark Twain. Good-hearted, with strong moral compass and a lot of adventures.
