Too much bread in the sandwich, Charlie.
on 14 January 2009
I love reading football biographies about players and managers I remember, usually from the sixties and seventies. These books are like sandwiches, the meat is the period when they were in their prime and either side is the bread, ie, their child-hood and retirement years. Too much of the bread can ruin the whole thing and in my opinion Charlie gives us way too much. Too much skipping stones down by the river, too much pushing of his `training course` job. Not enough scandal, not enough criticism. Charlie is a decent bloke and he was a fine winger but his book is a little disappointing. Mind you, I am not a Chelsea fan.
