This is an excellent book which will inform and educate the reader in the meticulous attention to detail needed in the preparation and assembly of an engine short block. A well-prepared bottom end is at the heart of any competitive engine . Although this book claims to be focused on four cylinder engines the bulk of its content can be applied to any configuration of four-stroke engine . The only omission I can detect is a failure to cover the examination , measurement and preparation of cam follower bores in push-rod engines . This is an area readers will need to explore for themselves , assuming they are aware of the potential problems . Other than that this is a very comprehensive book , well-written , which I can thoroughly recommend .
