If you already own the hefty volumes covering the familiar products of Corgi Toys and Dinky Toys, this book provides details of the fascinating history and products from many of the lesser known toy car producers from around the world.
Model cars from foreign manufacturers never appeared on the British toy market during the heyday of toy car popularity during the fifties and sixties and, as such, were completely unknown making the subjects of this book both rare and unusual.
Models are covered on a country by country basis including sections dealing with UK producers as well as those from around the globe, many of which are little known even today. The histories of the companies involved are illuminating and concisely dealt with, but it is the high quality colour pictures of exotic models from some of the most important collections in the world in the 'gallery' pages which make this book so entertaining. I particularly like the five page spread featuring the delightful products of Danish company Tekno, and the opportunity to see some of the rarest models of all from Japenese manufacturers such as Diapet.
