It is no easy task to review RC Sproul's The Gospel of God Romans. On the front cover is a quote from the evangelical times "buy it without hesitation and give it to others with confidence." I fear that i can't convey those sentiments with mere words. The book drips with annointing. Of course Romans was inspired by a man Paul filled with the holy spirit and you may wonder how can one add to a book written by an apostle. As i read RC Sproul's commentary my heart was touched and there was an inward knowledge that i was reading something special. The reader will find Romans disected bit by bit and explained fully. The main points are listed on the contents page which is great when you have received revelation of something and need to know where it was you found it later on. It cannot be stressed enough that in these days that true knowledge is of the up most importance in these cynical times. As Paul mentions himself there is a sense of truth in us and an ability to discern, reading this book was a privelage as i was able to understand Romans far more deeply and know without doubt that i was not being led astray. The authors lead is strong. He seems to understand mans philosphy, thinking and ways and he uses his knowledge to great effect when applying Pauls words to all time but especially today. It is nice not to be battered on the head with jargon but is nice to be given a better understanding of Romans and the back ground. I can only fully recommend it as it has encouraged me to study more and really apply scripture in living my life. Romans points to Gods saving grace and mercy for us through Christ despite our sin. The author manages to express such important facts clearly and enlarges on the significance bringing the real meaning of Romans to life even more. Thank you RC Sproul.
