A great book, well presented in a proper hardback form. The text is written in an easy going chatty style. The book includes both informative line drawings and purely decorative full page colour photographs. The book covers the use of stove fires, open fires, both indoors and out. It also explains types of wood and all the necessary preparations and practices required to burn a hearty wood fire.
I would like to see following subjects covered in a revised edition: multi-fuel stove grates, Elder trees, wood-burning cookers. I think the decorative photographs should be replaced with informative ones.
It would be great if the author could write a companion book on planting and managing a small wood for firewood production!
In summary, if you are new to wood fires or struggle to get a fire burning, this is the book for you.
