Definately a BIG book!!! This is not the normal style of reading I'm used to, i.e. biker biographies, this is a book full of accounts from several people, giving their views on the 1%ers, outlaw bikers,or, more to the point, what they think the outlaw biker is about. I am still only half way through the book, but most accounts up this stage seem to dwell on the "Hollister" events and what they saw, heard or believe. The police and local judges versions, believe it or not, all seem to say the same thing, blown out of all proportions, for the sake of selling newspapers across the U.S.A. Time magazine and Newsweek should hang their heads in shame. Would I recomend this book? Yes, on condition that you realise it is a collection of write ups by over 40 authors, including Hunter Thompson and Sonny Barger

This is quite an interesting read but if you want to read about the English biker scene this isn't the book for you. It does cover European bikers and the US well but there is very little if anything at all about the UK!
I still recommend it though!

a very interesting read that could do with some updating, tends to talk too much about 'Hollister'and concentrates to much on related crime and violence.i would have liked to read more about the actual riding experience, more about different bikes.

this is a very good easy to read book on the way of life of the outlaw bikers.the book contains over 40 accounts from people that lived the outlaw biker lifestyle.it's the inside story of hells angels, mongols, bandidos, rebels and other biker gangs. contributors include sonny barger, hunter s thompson and daniel r wolf amongst others.it's a recommended read if you would like to know more about the outlaw bikers and their lifestyle.

Thought this looked like a bit of an exploitation type compilation when I first picked it up but actually it has a very interesting range of points of view in its selections - law enforcement, bikers, journalists, old ladies etc etc - good background & I want to find/read more of some of the pieces quoted. Was good background for reading the thriller Heavy Duty People

A lot of research went into this book but the accounts of encounters between the rival gangs were very similar.
