I bought this to use in class as part of a Dragons topic for Y1 pupils. The children absolutely loved the book and were able to use the front cover to make predictions before trying to guess what was in the egg and where they would go when they flew away together. Both boys and girls loved it (as did I) and I would highly recommend it as a text.

M.P.Robertson is a brilliant illustrator/author and this is one of his/her best. A lonely boy finds a huge egg that hatches into..a dragon. Naturally, the boy then has to teach it how to behave like one, wearing a colander for a helmet and eventually returning it to dragonland. Funny and touching, it's the best Easter present you could give an imaginative child.

My two boys love this book - it has swords and knights helmets but ultimately it's about learning to care for a fellow creature - perfect bedtime reading for young boys and girls. The pictures are brilliantly composed, expertly painted and and full of character and humour. Definitely a favorite and the best thing is that there are three more in the series!

Very disappointed as book has got someone else's handwritten notes all around the text on nearly every page. Poor quality.

What happens?
When George discovers a magical golden egg his curiosity is awakened. He looks after it until it finally hatches...into a dragon. With no dragon mother in sight he takes on the responsibility of teaching it all it needs to know. But will George be able to live up to being a dragon mum?

What is my favourite part?
This book has beautiful illustrations, which bring your imagination to life. I particularly enjoyed the part where George teaches the Dragon lots of different skills, as it's quite funny.

Who would like this book?
This books is suited to children in primary school, or even younger as it has wonderful illustrations. Anyone who likes an adventure or a heart warming story will enjoy this.
