This is quite a good book about general advice on pensions for people like me who find the whole thing quite confusing. You will not get all the answers from this book, but it goes a long way in helping you understand about most aspects of pensions. However, I did find the information about Lifetime Allowances a bit 'thin' and was a bit disappointed that once again there were lots of references suggesting that you should 'seek the assistance of a Financial Advisor', which is what I was trying to avoid!
That said, there is a lot of useful information within and it represents good value.

I think this is a very good book, very informative, particularly for employees. The complexity of the subject can itself be a bit confusing at times, in spite of the 'working examples' frequently used to help understanding. My only criticism is that the small 'self-employed & sole-trader' group doesn't get much of a mention, apart from reminders that they have to sort their pensions out for themselves and to get good financial advice.on the subject.

Glad I bought the book - I may now be a little bit wiser.

Pensions Explained did explain everthing that I needed to know about pensions before I decided which pension provider to go with. Other books only skimmed the surface in comparison. Can recommend if you want to be sure you get the best pension possible.

If you want a book that covers in detail the current pension arrangements in the UK, this is it. The contents are very dry, and need to be read in small bites, but once read the reader will be pretty fully informed. It covers state, employers' and personal pensions in good detail, whilst not advising any particular provider. Useful at the start of a portfolio career, when changing jobs and pensions, and towards retirement.

Cracking little book, once you have read this you will give an half decent financial advisor a run for their money. Easy to red on what some many find is a daunting subject, has really focused my attention on what I need to do to plan for the future. Worth every penny, clear, concise, well written.
