Real militants are generally not college kids who want to appear more clever than they are. Yet, that is the demographic that this book is aimed at. It cites Mao, so why not read Mao? You'll learn more, and you won't have to suffer through drawn out arguments about "democracy" being necessary for "philosophy" and other such junk.

given as a gift to a third year philosophy student...who thought it was very good...the giver wouldn't have touched it with a barge pole...

If you like or need to study the modern trends in the use of dialectical materialism; then this is good place to start. Brief but very erudite. Requires good knowledge of philosophy to interpret.
