Following the third series of Dalek Empire (2004), Nicholas Briggs returned in 2007 with the fourth series of Dalek Empire.
Kade and the Fearless are on a mission – to intercept the Earth Alliance ship Amorist and to kill Susan Mendez. On Amorist, Ollander, Avers and Kenzie are just trying to stay alive while the journey with the Angel of Mercy continues with the Daleks.
In Dalek Empire 4, there are some great characters – Salus Kade (Noel Clarke), Egan Fisk (Oliver Mellor), Commander Landen (Maureen O’Brien) and they are wonderfully well portrayed by talented actors, including also Nicholas Briggs as the Daleks, Sarah Mowat, John Schwab, David Yip, Ian Brooker, Sean Connolly, Alex Mallinson and David Dobson. Special note must go in this episode, too to Esther Ruth Elliott as Ollander; the character, and the way she has been played here is absolutely top notch; and Sarah Mowat as Susan Mendez, the Angel of Mercy.
This is a tremendous continuation of the long-awaited fourth series of Dalek Empire. I have thoroughly enjoyed every one of these episodes and series so far. The writing is tremendous, all done by Nicholas Briggs in what is obviously a very personal labour of love. The scope, the characters, the action and narrative itself in these stories is just absolutely without parallel, and shows just what can be done in a stunning audio adventure. The episode is about 60 minutes, with some 10 minutes of extras, with Nick Briggs talking with Esther Ruth Elliott, David Dobson and Sarah Mowat.
