It is remarkable and humbling to read of the courage of those young men. What they went through is truly inspirational.
The courage and daring in what would seem like a suicide mission is incredible.
They should have the respect of all freedom loving people for their blow against the nazis.

This is a good book about the raid on St Nazaire. It gives quite a detailed account of the raid and it's aftermath. The book has quite slot of eyewitness accounts inserted appropriately. A very good book about a group of heroic men going on a mission they knew slot would not return from.

By land by sea is on there badge. What hero's. This book makes me proud to be father, uncle and great uncle to thee Royal Marine Commandos. These are men of steel and rest assured that when needed they will be there. God rest the men in this book and thank you for your sacrifice.

Having watched Clarkson s documentary on war stories, the book reinforces what is a truly remarkable story of the sailors and commandos of 1942...with quotes and actual events its a great read.
Why a Hollywood film has never been made on operation chariot I will never know.

It shows clearly how much well trained brave men can achieve against the odds and it also shows how much detailed planning was required for future raids. It was such a shame that so many men had to die in such awful circumstances.

Liked the writing style and found the daring do of people of that time amazing considering that they probably realised a good proportion of them were not going to come back. How expendable lives seemed to be at that time

Don't let the price fool you, - This is a truly superb book, - You will not be able to put it down.

It provides an excellent description of events during the raid, - The reality, the tragedy, the glory.

A somewhat long winded story of an extremely brave set of servicemen who showed bravery and courage above and beyond. A complex tale but nevertheless gripping account in all the terrifying aspects of fighting.

Utterly remarkable person. Clearly written without being sentimental. Violette deserved the George Medal and her daughter must be so very proud of her and what she did in the name of freedom and Liberty
