This splendid volume will provide fascinating reading for anyone interested in local, military or family history as well as students of architecture, photography and art/sculpture too. It features many superb black and white and beautiful colour photographs of war memorials of all shapes and sizes from around the British Isles and whilst not being the most comprehensive volume on this subject, it is one of the best available and what is most important, it is that it is bang up to date and will therefore be an invaluable reference aid for researchers. Besides encouraging further reading and research, I feel it will also make many look at these(often)magnificent memorials in a different light in the future and appreciate them not only for historical significance, but their artistic beauty too.
This book arrived promptly, very well packaged and in excellent condition. I had seen a copy a friend owned before I bought it this one and I was impressed to see that The International RAF monument on Plymouth Hoe was included. This monument is of special interest to me and the many other monuments from all over the country were interesting to see and were thought provoking
I have to say that I did enjoy this book which goes into depth who and when the memorials were unveiled. The description given to the memorials was excellent. This book has prompted me o visit some of the memorials listed in this book.
