See also the review of the similar volume on Airfields and Airmen- Somme. In a nut shell: very interesting descriptions of WW1 airfields and the airmen who were based there. Included are modern road directions to find these sites along with modern and contemporary photos of the airfields themselves, enabling the reader to see how things have changed over the years. A highly recommended series, with careful research by the author. Only improvement would be inclusion of some colour to modern pictures, -but this would have obviously added to the publishing cost. O'Connor treads the delicate balance of preparing a book to act as a guide to the battlefields and cemeteries whilst still remaining something readable in its own right. He succeeds, with the only drawback being that the books in this series are quite short.
