Like the other language versions in this series, the games are excellent for learning vocabulary in Latvian. Work through them systematically and you won't be stuck for a word on a trip to Latvia.
BUT you also won't be able to string words together in sentences, if this is all you're using. True, there are some phrases included, but mostly this is about learning lists of related words such as food items, colours and so on.
If you're just learning the basics for a holiday, this is perfect - but if you're more serious about learning Latvian, consider buying it as part of a wider selection of material.

This cd-rom is the first I have found dedicated to teaching the Latvian language. It is pretty good as an introduction to some simple Latvian phrases and vocabularly but you will not have got very far when you have mastered all the material. My family (ages ranging from 6 to 47 years) found it reasonably easy to navigate although some aspects of the interface were initially rather confusing. The spoken Latvian is good and the CD would be a useful supplement to a book-based course, especially if you have no access to Latvian relatives or friends.

My girlfriend is Latvian so I thought being able to hear the words spoken via an interactive CD would help me learn the language quicker than a book. I bought this expecting it to be basic and from that respect wasn't disappointed.
Installation was straight forward, lots of basic words and a few basic sentences. A few simple games help make this CD "interactive".
Each phrase is said by a man then a woman. However, the woman tends to over-emphasise the word making it sound strange to a native speaker.
A few sentences made my GF laugh. For example, the phrase for "Where is a pen?" was actually "Where is a quill?" but apparently that sort of mistake is very common in Latvian. Apparently Tom-Tom is so bad that she won't use the Latvian voice. Forgivable in another product but disappointing for a CD trying to teach you the language.
Using this CD I've learned a few words & phrases but given the price I would say its ok, not great.
