I'm a World War 1 re-enactor and find this book essential reading, couple this with the Field Service Pocket Book 1914 and you have all the right detailed knowledge to portray a World War 1 soldier accurately! for both Officers and Men!

Interesting book. An insight into soldiers lives a hundred years ago. Ideal for living hisorians and reenactors.

This manual by Naval & Military Press is smaller in physical size than the original and as a consequence has suffered from being cropped, deleting valuable information from its sketches. In simple terms, it is impossible to see the foot positions on some important plates as they are missing. This book is pretty much worthless to living history groups and re-enactors.Infantry Training (4 - Company Organization) 1914

This content of this book is a faithful replication of the content of the original Infantry Training Manual 1914. I am slightly baffled by a previous reviewer's comments about certain plates being truncated and information missing - I own an original copy of this book as issued in 1914, and I bought this copy to avoid overthumbing what is now a fairly delicate book - having compared the two I can confirm that all text and plates can be found complete in this edition.

This book may be of limited interest as a general read; however, for researchers or those who have a specific interest in the tactics that were being taught in 1914 this will be of use. For those with a specific interest in drill, it is also of value given that an appreciation can be gained of how drill moves on the parade square were designed to tranform into tactical manoeuvres on the battlefield.
